About me, and more importantly, my approach…

Hi! My name is Sara Martin and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from Pocahontas, Arkansas. You can scroll towards the bottom and find my background, education and qualifications, but what I want to focus on first is you. Why you’re here and what you’re dealing with.

It can be personally challenging to search for and reach out to a counselor. Be it pride, or doubt that it’ll work; fear of judgment; fear to tell your stories that no others know; fear of what might be discovered in the process. The thing is, all of that fear and doubt is included in what I’m trying to help you manage. All of that is anxiety, brought to mind by the very life experiences, traumas, and happenings that bring you here now.

My number one priority is to help you feel better about yourself, your life, your past, present and future, and to then help you build a foundation for a better life and mindset moving forward. Am I the best counselor for you? I don’t know! If I feel that I am and I know that I can help you, I’ll tell you. If I’m not, I’ll tell you that, too, and connect you with someone who I think might be..

Whether it’s me you reach out to or not isn’t what’s important. What’s important is YOU. Your mental health; your state of mind; your career; your LIFE. And instilling the idea that sometimes you need more than your traditional support system. It’s not always easy. The process, even just getting started, requires courage and commitment. I’ll listen plenty, judge never and give the hard truths sometimes. But my primary focus doesn’t change: Meaningful results for you.

I might not always know what you’re going through, but my commitment to listening, learning and understanding never wavers. Your time with me is your time, for emotion, revelation and to simply talk! There’s no rigid structure — we’re a team. A collaborative team, with the same goal, that works together on the principles of trust, honesty, compassion and determination.

My background, education and qualifications … As promised!

I received my Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee in 2003 and spent the following decade working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in community-based and school settings. As a result of my experience working with a number of clients during this time, it became my dream to one day open a private practice in order to offer my community a private option for mental health and wellness services.

While working as an LCSW, I obtained an additional degree in Psychology & Counseling with an emphasis in school psychology from Arkansas State University. I spent the next 10 years serving in the public school system where I gained extensive experience working with public schools and early childhood programs, neurodiverse students, families of children with special educational needs, community agencies, medical clinics, and a broad range of professionals and perspectives. My combined experience spans two decades.

My professional interests include the study of effective treatments for healing trauma and an integrated approach to wellness across the life span.
